The Knowing Local Government website will give new and current Local Government Councillors, based in rural and remote locations, in the Northern Territory and worldwide the capacity to self access material on a range of topics about working as a Councillor in the new NT Local Government Shires.
Knowing Local Government resources can be accessed in several formats. You can listen, watch and learn about local government, or you can download the website's topics onto your MP3 player for easy listening, or print out the script for reading in your own time.
You can also enter the virtual world of Yendowra, where virtual councillor Harry will guide you through how things work in Yendowra Shire Council, with stories, pictures and cartoons.
Knowing Local Government keynote presentations can also be used by councils for group sessions facilitated by a trainer.
Knowing Local Government has been developed by the Northern Territory Government in collaboration with the Local Government Association of the Northern Territory and the Australian Government.
